Wiley’s successors at FDA approved of both approaches and welcomed the formation of FDLI to provide more practitioners in food and drug law. Celebrating 75 Years Our institution was originally founded as the Food Law Institute (FLI). It was not until 1967, nearly 20 years later, that we transitioned to being known as the Food and Drug Law Institute or "FDLI," signaling our commitment to education on every component of regulatory compliance law and developments. It was not until 1967, nearly 20 years later, that we transitioned to being known as the Food and Drug Law Institute or "FDLI," signaling our commitment to education on every component of regulatory compliance law and developments. Celebrating 75 Years In 1988 FDLI introduced the association membership category. At this time, the Institution welcomed only 5 associations. Today, we have engaged with nearly 600 associations, and organizations such as these represent about 13% of our members. Celebrating 75 Years Manufacturer members have always been an important part of FDLI. Over the last 75 years, we have engaged with nearly 2,000 manufacturers and retain manufacturer memberships across 29 states, including Puerto Rico.
